China News Service, Kunming, May 26 (Miao Chao). Inge Annoson, Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme, introduced to the guests from various countries through a video link at the World Environmental Justice Conference held in Kunming, Yunnan on the 26th, China’s highest The People's Court established the Environmental Resources Tribunal in 2014, and China's courts at all levels have also established more than 1,000 environmental resources trial institutions.

She said that the United Nations Environment Programme will continue to cooperate with the Supreme People’s Court of China to strengthen the trial of violations involving environmental resources.

Currently, the new crown pneumonia epidemic continues to spread globally.

Inge Annoson said that the tragedy caused by the new crown pneumonia epidemic is not the greatest threat facing humanity. If economic and social changes are not carried out, the world will kick off an environmental disaster in the future.

The world needs to take practical and meaningful actions to maintain climate stability, protect the natural environment, and prevent the spread of pollution.

"Only in this way can we have the opportunity to create a prosperous, equal and peaceful world."

Inge Annoson believes that environmental justice will become a key link to complete the above tasks.

She said that environmental justice is essential to the right to a healthy environment, and the right to a healthy environment is particularly critical to sustainable development.

"The courts of various countries are playing an increasingly important role in promoting sustainable development. This is why the United Nations Environment Programme has been committed to providing support to judges."

"We need to let more judges master the basic knowledge of environmental issues, and strengthen the unity and cooperation between judicial personnel." She hopes that the World Conference on Environmental Justice can deepen cooperation among judges from various countries.
