She added that her mother's left eye began to weaken and close and was unable to open it, until it closed completely, a feeling of numbness followed on the left side of the whole body, and after the pain increased, it was presented to doctors in the specialties of the brain, nerves, nose, ear and throat, and everyone was confused about her diagnosis.

She continued that the ophthalmologist, after examining it, said that the eyeball and its bottom are in good condition, but there is a problem with the eye nerves, while another doctor said that she had a problem in the facial nerves, specifically the fifth, sixth and seventh nerve, explaining that her mother also began to suffer from severe pain in the teeth and jaw, Therefore, she was presented to a consultant neurologist, who said that she was infected with the black fungus and was treated by a doctor who specializes in ear, nose and throat diseases.

And she continued that the otolaryngologist began to surgically remove the fungus from the nasal cavity, as well as from the jaw and mouth, confirming that the left eye was completely closed and the doctor told them that it had eroded and treatment was no longer useful, while the mother was still suffering from persistent pain in the jaw, teeth and face, referring to The doctor is currently in charge of removing the traces of the fungus from the rest of the affected areas, and discovered that her mother lost the tingling sensation without anesthesia and confirmed that the cells and tissues in the nasal cavity and that reached the eye became dead.

The daughter added that her mother cannot eat and drink because of the pain, nor can she swallow, and she is currently living on medical solutions, especially since the fungus completely affected the roof of the throat, tongue and teeth, and she is currently suffering from an acute shortage of potassium, which puts her condition more and more at risk.

She indicated that her mother's condition worsened due to potassium deficiency, and she completely lost her left eye, as the fungus affected all areas of the left side of the face, jaw and teeth, adding that they did not inform her of her husband's death as a result of his infection with Corona so that her abilities would not collapse, weaken her strength and lose her resistance in the face of the disease.

What is black fungus disease?

It is a fungal infection that causes blackening or discoloration of the skin around the nose and affects the patient with double or double vision, chest pain, breathing difficulties and coughing up blood.

This disease is closely related to diabetes and weakened immune systems.

Experts said that the increased use of certain drugs in the Covid-19 pandemic to suppress the immune system may be the reason for the increase in cases.

And data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that the death rate from black fungus disease is 54 percent, and this percentage may vary depending on the condition of the patients and the affected physical organ.
