The concrete station sold - Now there can be more trade in Lillänge

The company RED (Rico Estate Development AB) has bought the site from the company Heidelberg, which owns the Swedish concrete industry.

- I have worked with this issue for a year and a half, says Pär Jönsson (M), municipal councilor in Östersund.

The purchase means that an area can become a new trading place.

But first a detailed plan must be drawn up.

- That work begins as soon as RED submits an application, says Pär Jönsson.

But it is clear that it will not be given permission for a grocery store, but it will be a rare purchase of about 10,000 square meters.

To solve the traffic situation in the area, Östersund municipality plans to build a roundabout on Hagvägen, at McDonalds and a new local street to the new shopping center.

Politically, both the ruling parties and the Social Democrats agree that trade can be established in the area.

- We agree that the issue can survive the election of 2022, says Pär Jönsson.
