On 17 May, a press release was sent out to year three at Kalmar's municipal upper secondary schools, stating that relatives will not be allowed to attend during the year.

The decision was made by the Kalmar upper secondary school association based on the prevailing infection situation in the county.

Ebba Råk is a third-year student at Stagneliusskolan in Kalmar is very critical and thinks that a corona-safe origin could have been arranged.

- I think you could have done as in Oskarshamn and Nybro and arranged a drive-in spring, says Ebba Råk.

Experiences of the pandemic

Ebba believes that she has gained experience during the long pandemic period and wants Kalmar municipality to change the decision.

And that there is a difference now compared to last year when she fully understands that it was not possible to carry out any traditional outings.

- As we have adapted to guidelines and rules to reduce the spread of infection, it is no more than right to arrange a dignified start where a relative can receive every happy and hopeful student, redo and do the right thing, she says.

Appeals to change the decision

She has also written to Kalmarsund's upper secondary school association, Kalmar municipality and the principals at Stagneliusskolan.

The upper secondary school association stands by the decision.

The others have not yet responded.

In addition, she has aired her case on social media where she gets both praise and praise for her opinions.

- There must be some misconception, most people probably think that it is about a common origin with lots of people and student flats.

We just want the parents to see us run out, says Ebba Råk.

What are your hopes for the decision to change?

- You have had a year to plan for this.

There will be new guidelines from the first of June.

I hope you have time to change until then, says Ebba Råk.
