INTERVIEW

The government recently gave the green light to the construction of a vast 130 km2 floating wind farm off Belle-Île, in southern Brittany. This decision angered local residents and fishermen, who denounce the ugliness of the project and its environmental consequences, especially on biodiversity. But Barbara Pompili does not want to let go. "The development of wind power is vital. We need to develop renewable energies in our country," insisted the Minister of Ecological Transition on Tuesday on Europe 1.

Barbara Pompili also responded to criticism that residents were not consulted.

"We take into account the opinions of the people, in particular through public debates, through consultations where we meet the various players," assured the Minister.

"In the end, it is the state which decides." There is a decision which is taken by political leaders, but after many consultations ", she insisted.
