• The coronavirus crisis has sparked a craze among the French for gardening.

  • The Roubaix company ArbraCulture offers video training to cultivate your own vegetable garden from scratch.

  • Its designer applies the principles of permaculture, recycling and zero waste.

The "coronardiers" of the world after. There was a life before the coronavirus epidemic, there will be the one after, in which many French people are keen to do things differently. And because it was necessary to furnish all this forced free time, many have started gardening, probably a little hard. But to do things well, easily and in a sustainable way, the Roubaix company ArbraCulture is developing a video training course that reveals "the seven keys to the vegetable garden".

Louis Gaveriaux, 26, founder of ArbraCulture, knows exactly what he is talking about: scientific baccalaureate option biology, ecology, agronomy, DTU biological engineering and a civic service spent supporting the residents of a retirement home in the realization of a permaculture garden.

“It is a discipline whose principles are to take care of Man, of Nature and to share knowledge.

This applies to all areas, including agriculture, ”explains Louis Gaveriaux.

"Our current way of consuming which is doomed to disappear"

His company, awaiting the Social and Solidarity Economy (ESS) label, is interested in the application of permaculture principles to outdoor developments.

"My problem is how to eat, how to become independent again in our diet, breaking with our current way of consuming which is doomed to disappear anyway," continues the entrepreneur.

And the coronavirus crisis is undoubtedly an opportunity to see these principles applied with the enthusiasm of the French for the cultivation of a vegetable garden.

“This video training is intended primarily for individuals who wish to start cultivating a vegetable garden on a balcony, a terrace or a small garden.

It is broken down into modules that guide step by step through all the stages starting from zero ”, assures Louis Gaveriaux.

The first of the five modules, already available, is devoted to sowing.

"In eleven videos of ten minutes, we learn in particular to sow according to the seasons," he explains.

The following themes are, the associations of vegetables, the succession of vegetables and the maintenance of the vegetable garden, collecting your own seeds and preparing the vegetable garden for the winter and designing new vegetable garden spaces.

Each module costs 47 euros, unlimited access, no subscription, online educational documentation included.

A price that can quickly pay for itself thanks to the savings promised by ArbraCulture: "The idea is to gain food autonomy, but also to apply the principles of recycling and zero waste to the vegetable garden", insists Louis Gaveriaux.
