In January last year, former family home-placed Esmeralda was found dead in her biological parents' home.
Norrköping District Court then sentenced Esmeralda's mother to one year and nine months in prison for aggravated manslaughter.
The prosecution wanted the mother to be brought to justice for murder.
The verdict was appealed by both sides to the Göta Court of Appeal.
