“A check has been started against me due to circumstances incompatible with the status of the head of the city,” Tikhonov said.

According to him, he does not believe that he committed violations, however, given the seriousness of the issue, "he decided to terminate his powers ahead of schedule."

He did not elaborate on the essence of the check.

Tikhonov headed the second most populous city of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug in 2016.
