“The amendments propose to toughen up to three years in prison the punishment for“ driving a vehicle while intoxicated by a person subject to administrative punishment or with a criminal record, ”the message says.

In accordance with current legislation, repeated drunk driving is punishable by a maximum penalty of two years in prison.

“It is also proposed to increase the amount of the fine (from 300 to 500 thousand instead of 200 to 300 thousand rubles or in the amount of the wage or other income of the convicted person for a period of two to three years instead of one to two years), as well as the exclusion of punishment in the form compulsory work ", - noted in the State Duma.

As specified, the introduction of such changes is due to "the increasing degree of public danger when driving a vehicle in a state of intoxication and the need to apply more stringent sanctions for its repeated commission."
