This was announced by the founder of the project, Vladimir Osečkin, on the portal's homepage. In the press release it is specified that the activity of the organisation's co-ordinator council also ceases.

And he also assured that the project coordinators will be protected and anonymous and will continue the their inquiries in Russia.

Osečkin explained that this decision was made because of fears for the life and freedom of the collaborators. According to him, some key coordinators of the project have already left Russia, and the relocation of the headquarters abroad will not affect the activities of the organization.

He added that the project's Gulagu.net website, hotline, online reception and YouTube channel will continue to function. The organization's website will hide the names of its fellow coordinators.
