What happened to the decorative dinosaur in a disused cinema in a small town in Spain?

A man in his 40s has been found dead upside down inside a dinosaur statue in the town of Santa Coloma de Gramanet, near Barcelona.

According to a police spokesperson for the Catalonia region, investigators are currently trying to figure out how this person got into this large papier-mâché stegosaurus and why they then failed to get out.

"Everything indicates that this is an accidental death," said this spokesperson, who said that the police had found "no clue" evoking a "criminal" cause.

Authorities were notified on Saturday.

"We went there and saw that a deceased person was inside the dinosaur", from this city in northern Spain, said this spokesperson.

Stuck in a dinosaur paw

To extract the body, firefighters had to cut one of the legs of the metal sculpture covered with papier-mâché in order to remove the body.

It was stuck in a "leg" of the dinosaur, upside down, said another spokesperson for the regional police.

Police sources quoted by the local press believe that this man could have entered the dinosaur to sleep there or would have tried to recover an object, such as a mobile phone, which fell inside.

According to the local press, a father and his son, who were playing in the area, alerted the police after smelling an abnormal smell from this dinosaur statue installed by neighborhood cinemas.
