During the autumn of 2020, it was discovered that half a tonne of dynamite explosives and the next 100 detonators were stored on a site in Eksjö municipality.

Of the quantity, 165 kilos of explosives had been transported to Gnosjö municipality, with the aim of being resold.

On April 1, two men were sentenced to six and five years in prison, respectively, for violating the law on flammable and explosive goods, a particularly serious crime.

A man in his 25s was also sentenced, but he to a shorter sentence, three years in prison, because he was the one who tipped the police about the incident.

Resold

All three convicts, but also the prosecutor's side, appealed the verdict in Eksjö District Court.

The prosecutor believes that the man who was sentenced to six years in prison resold a certain amount of explosives, which is still missing.

According to the prosecutor, the man must also have links to organized crime.

- We believe that it has been shown that the explosive has proceeded and we believe that one of the men should be sentenced to a longer prison term, says Jessica Andersson, chamber prosecutor.

However, the man questions this information in his appeal and the man who was sentenced to five years in prison denies involvement.

Told police

As for the younger man who advised the police about the explosives and the transport, Eksjö District Court made a different assessment than the prosecutor's side's claim.

Since he contributed to the incident being revealed, the prosecutor said that he should receive a substantial penalty discount and that he should be sentenced to 8-10 months in prison.

But he was sentenced to three years.

- It will be very interesting to see the Court of Appeal's trial, what they think about his participation, says Jessica Andersson.
