As noted, the company presented this initiative during a meeting of the interdepartmental council for cooperation between St. Petersburg and Gazprom.

“In order to further develop the public and business district, which is being successfully created around the Lakhta Center on the coast of the Gulf of Finland, it has been proposed to build a new skyscraper - Lakhta Center 2,” the press release says.

As specified, the height of the building will be 703 meters.

"The skyscraper will be the second tallest in the world and the absolute record holder for the height of the observation deck (590 m) and the top operating floor," Gazprom said.

A road map has already been developed for the project; the gas company will provide a plot for construction.

Earlier, Gazprom Arena ranked high in the ranking of the most attractive football facilities in the world.
