"Inclined to commit an explosion on Victory Day": the FSB reported the arrest of an IS supporter who was preparing a terrorist attack in Norilsk

Employees of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation prevented a terrorist attack on the territory of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

“As a result of the conducted operational-search activities on the territory of the Stavropol Territory, on April 22, 2021, a Russian citizen was detained, a supporter of the ideology of the international terrorist organization“ Islamic State ”* banned in the Russian Federation. crowds of people, ”the message says.

It is noted that the attacker set up a cache in the basement of one of the houses of Norilsk - explosives and striking elements were removed from there.

At the same time, instructions on how to make an explosive device and correspondence were found in the detainee's mobile phone, from which it follows that he tried to "persuade a number of persons to commit an explosion in the parade column of servicemen during the Victory Day celebrations."

After the arrest of an IS supporter, a criminal case was initiated under Part 1.1 ("Inclination to commit a terrorist act") and Part 3 ("Aiding in the commission of a terrorist act") Art.

205.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia.

"The necessary operational search measures and investigative actions are being carried out," the FSB concluded.

About 200 terrorist attacks were prevented in Russia in 10 years

In the first half of May, the director of the FSB, the chairman of the National Anti-Terrorist Committee, Alexander Bortnikov, on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the NAC, said that the domestic special services and law enforcement agencies had prevented about 200 terrorist acts in the country over the past decade.

In addition, over the same period, the number of violent terrorist crimes, such as explosions, hostage-taking, and murder, decreased by 260 times (from 779 to 3).

Bortnikov stated that all the leaders of the bandit groups operating in the North Caucasus had been eliminated.

Also, a lot of work has been done to counter the illegal circulation of weapons of destruction and the financing of terrorism.

“In 2020 alone, about 600 firearms, 134 improvised explosive devices, over 100 thousand cartridges, as well as more than 3 thousand mines, grenades and other ammunition were withdrawn from illegal circulation.

Rosfinmonitoring has blocked the financial assets of more than 1.2 thousand persons suspected of involvement in terrorism, for a total amount of over 57 million rubles.

In general, 184 channels of financing of this criminal activity were suppressed, ”explained the chairman of the NAC.

Activities to suppress terrorists in 2021

In April, the FSB stopped the activities of a cell of the terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir ** in the Novosibirsk and Kemerovo regions.

Its members spread terrorist ideology among the inhabitants of the regions, and also recruited local Muslims into their ranks.

In the same month, two supporters of the terrorist organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham *** were detained, who were planning to carry out an armed attack using improvised explosive devices on one of the educational institutions of the city of Simferopol.

Criminal cases were initiated against them under the articles: "Assistance in terrorist activities", "Propaganda of terrorism" and "Illegal manufacture of explosive devices."

The terrorists have no chance of implementing their criminal plans, ”said the head of the region, Sergei Aksyonov.

In March, a terrorist attack was prevented at an energy facility in the Kaliningrad region.

FSB officers detained a 42-year-old man who was planning to carry out an attack "out of hatred of the current government."

An improvised explosive device and components for synthesizing explosives were seized from him.

In mid-February, security officials detained 19 supporters of the At-Takfir wal-Hijra **** organization who were planning terrorist attacks in the North Caucasus.

Extremist materials, an RPK machine gun, an AKM machine gun, cartridges and improvised explosive devices, totaling more than 3 kg in TNT equivalent, were seized from them.

In addition, in the radicals' cache there was a suicide belt with striking elements.

In January, FSB officers detained in Bashkiria a Russian citizen born in 1995, a follower of radical Islamism, who was preparing an armed attack on law enforcement officers.
