"We need a very strong response against this completely unacceptable hijacking. Lukashenko must understand that this act cannot be without consequences": said the president of the EU Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, entering the EU summit.

Von der Leyen explained that "the 3 billion investment package ready to go from the EU to Belarus remains frozen until Belarus becomes democratic". And direct sanctions are being discussed against individuals and economic entities that finance the regime, and against aviation.
