The investigation continues after the tragic news item that occurred this weekend in Paris.

A man, filmed by residents in the nineteenth arrondissement of Paris raping a woman, was indicted Monday and remanded in custody, we learned from a judicial source.

The suspect was arrested during the night from Friday to Saturday after being filmed by residents raping a woman on the public highway, avenue de Flandre, not far from Stalingrad Square.

The suspect designated by the victim

At the end of his police custody, he was indicted for "rape by a person in a state of intoxication, drug trafficking and use of drugs" and placed in pre-trial detention, said a judicial source.

On a video, taken by residents who regularly film the nuisances linked to drug trafficking and posted on Twitter, the victim can be heard calling for help.

The police, alerted shortly before 1 am by residents, had arrested the man.

A second video, also online, shows a man in handcuffs being taken away by the police.

A police source told AFP that the suspect had been "designated by the victim".

The investigation was entrusted to the 2nd district of judicial police.

Local residents at their wit's end

The north-east of the capital, in particular the Place de Stalingrad and its surroundings, is plagued by the crack trade, nicknamed "the poor man's drug".

The residents, exasperated by the presence of drug addicts, renamed this place “Stalincrack”.

An investigation for "violence with a weapon" has been underway since the fireworks were fired two nights in a row at the beginning of May.

These shots were aimed at crack smokers, according to testimonies from residents.
