The United States plans to spread "American culture and values" in Ukraine through festivals.

For these purposes, the State Department will provide a grant of up to $ 100,000.

“The Public Diplomacy Section of the US Embassy in Kiev invites Ukrainian non-profit non-governmental organizations to apply for funding to highlight and promote American culture and values at festivals in Ukraine,” the document read by RT says.

It is noted that festivals can be held in the format of exhibitions, film screenings or culinary shows.

These can include sporting events as well as events in the fields of fashion, science and technology, and education.

The State Department intends to pay special attention to projects that, in the presence of an "essential component of American culture," will solve certain "strategic tasks."

In particular, they must promote "democratic reforms" - the fight against corruption, the rule of law and civil society, as well as economic transformations, including those related to energy security.

In addition, the projects should "deepen Ukrainians' understanding of American culture and values," the document says.

The American department will also give preference to those proposals that will contribute to "close interaction between the residents of the United States and Ukraine" both during the events themselves and after their completion - in particular, during seminars and master classes.

In addition, potential grantees will have to justify how their projects will help achieve Washington's goals.

“Applicants must be willing to provide information on how American citizens or aspects of American culture and values that are involved in their program contribute to these goals,” the description reads.

The United States is actively launching various initiatives aimed at promoting "American values" in Ukraine.

So, in May, the State Department announced its readiness to provide $ 1.9 million for the "development of science."

At the same time, the grant assumed not only the support of specialists, but also the strengthening of the role of "American values" in Ukraine.

And in April, it became known about the US plans to spend up to $ 120 thousand on an English language program, in which citizens of Ukraine aged 13 to 20 will be involved.

As the description suggests, during the class, participants will have “American cultural events,” including holidays such as Thanksgiving and July 4th.

To demonstrate the "diversity of American society" to a wider audience, the State Department last year proposed holding a film festival in Ukraine.

Ukrainian NGOs were allocated $ 100,000 for its organization.

Grants "put on stream"

As Anton Bredikhin, scientific director of the Center for Ethnic and International Studies, explained in an interview with RT, grants to promote "American values" in Ukraine are a "consistent American policy" that has been pursued over the past 30 years.

“This is not the first and not the last case of such a grant.

At the same time, it is important that the Americans, if they give money for something, subsequently demand the most severe account.

For every dollar, the Ukrainian side will have to report: how the events went, what water and glasses were bought for the event.

Everything will be spent as intended - this is the "effectiveness" of the American "humanitarian policy", - said the expert.

The specialist notes that in the current political realities "Americans allocate money and the consciousness of people is changing with this money," while this approach "in Ukraine continues to be encouraged."

“This grant says that it is necessary to push more and more 'American values'.

These are all purposeful, concrete steps.

There is no need to wait, as everyone says, for a generation change - that ideology will supposedly change in one generation.

Ideology is changing rapidly, and it is through such grants that you can get quick mechanisms to change people's consciousness.

Let the amount be small, but this amount, plus another amount, more and more, ”says Bredikhin.

As State Duma deputy Ruslan Balbek explained in an interview with RT, the US State Department "put on stream" the allocation of grants to its supporters in the CIS countries.

And Ukraine, according to him, is given more attention as a state, allegedly "affected by the actions of Russia."

“I do not believe in statements about the spread of American values.

This is a real purchase of allies - as they say, in bulk, ”Balbek believes.

Ukraine is currently facing more serious problems: unrealized reforms, unresolved conflict in Donbass.

However, even in such a situation, Washington continues to hire people and promote its ideology in the country, the parliamentarian notes.

“It is more efficient to work with an extensive network of 'grant-eaters': they will sincerely try to get the next tranche,” Balbek emphasized.

Political scientist and economist Alexander Dudchak agrees with him: “This is a process of preventing the general perception of the United States in the way that has long been imposed on Ukraine.

We see an example of work to create an attractive image of the state.

It is being promoted in just such a way - through festivals, actions, photo exhibitions, round tables ”.
