During an extraordinary meeting on Monday morning, a unanimous municipal board rejected the proposal for a stay ban.

The main reason was that the City Council already has the opportunity to introduce temporary roadblocks with the support of the Pandemic Act.

- To let the municipal board have the mandate to make such a decision will be a fairly large encroachment on personal freedom of movement, says the municipal board chairman Bosse Svensson (C) to SVT Nyheter Jämtland.

Today is the opportunity to make a decision on a stay ban at the City Council.

Should a stay ban become relevant, an extra council may be called in.

- If, for example, the infection control sees that a residence ban would be required, we can call in a councilor, says Bosse Svensson.

In the proposal, which was developed by municipal officials together with the police, Badhusparken, Österängsparken and some beaches were relevant areas.
