"We avoided the worst," says one among the firefighters.

A fire broke out a little before 5 a.m. this Sunday morning in a building located at 18, rue de la Visitation in the historic center of Rennes.

The fire, the origin of which remains unknown for the moment, would have started from the ground floor of the building where there is a shop.

The fumes then spread to the rest of the building.

Three intoxicated people were taken care of by the firefighters and transported in an emergency to the Pontchaillou University Hospital.

About sixty firefighters were mobilized to extinguish the fire which was brought under control shortly after 6 a.m.

All the occupants will now have to be relocated, the disaster having seriously damaged the building.
