"The Ministry of Education and Higher Education in the Gaza Strip decided to complete the 2020-2021 academic year and compensate students for lost skills and knowledge at the beginning of the next academic year," the ministry reports to RIA Novosti.

It is noted that the corresponding decision was made after dozens of schools were damaged as a result of air strikes from Israel.

The ministry noted that thousands of students lost their school books under the rubble of damaged and destroyed buildings.

A mutual ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into force at 02:00 Moscow time on May 21.

First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Dmitry Polyansky expressed the hope that the agreement on a mutual ceasefire between Israel and the Gaza Strip will remain long-term.
