"The one I was before no longer exists"

Among the people gathered: relatives, friends, locals, but also Marjorie's parents.

After walking a little over a kilometer in absolute silence, the procession arrived at the scene of the tragedy, in the Parroquets district.

The minute of silence was followed by poignant words from Cindy, Matteo's mom.

"It's not easy for me to be here and speak, but I had to do it for my son," she said at first.

"When you lose your child murdered with an 11 cm blade in the heart, there are no words to describe what you feel. The one I was before no longer exists", a- she continued.

"He had no problem with anyone"

Young people from the neighborhood were also present, all very moved.

They described a very nice teenager, always smiling.

"He was a nice person, rather calm, who was not going to get into trouble. He had no problem with anyone," one of them told Europe 1.

"There really has to be an awareness with the young people, so that they stop for the fights and the mothers stop crying. You have to think about the parents first. These are unnecessary fights," said another.

"We must put away the weapons", for his part launched Laurent Jeanne, the mayor of the city, before the crowd disperses, leaving behind a bed of white roses and a few candles.

The 16-year-old suspected of having fatally stabbed Mattéo was indicted on Friday for "murder".

While in police custody, he denied the charges against him, then he remained silent before the investigating judge.

The suspect is one of the "pals" of that group of neighbors, said a friend of Matteo, who had been seeing him since college.

But according to his family, he is not "a close friend".

The weapon has not yet been found by investigators from the judicial police of Val-de-Marne.

The autopsy found a wound nearly 11 centimeters deep near the victim's heart.
