United Nations human rights experts called for an immediate halt to the escalation between Gaza and Israel, and called for addressing the primary source of the conflict, which is the denial of Palestinians' individual and collective rights.

The experts noted that Israel's firing of rockets at densely populated areas in Gaza violated the laws and constituted a war crime.

For its part, Amnesty International said that the Israeli forces showed horrific disregard for the lives of Palestinian civilians by launching a number of air strikes that, in some cases, targeted residential buildings, killing entire families - including children - and causing the deliberate destruction of civilian property. Attacks that may amount to war crimes or crimes against humanity.

The organization has documented 4 fatal attacks launched by Israel on residential homes without prior warning, and the organization urges the International Criminal Court to urgently investigate these attacks.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said that about 450 buildings in the Gaza Strip, including 6 hospitals and 9 primary health care centers, have been destroyed or severely damaged since the start of the aggression.

Some 48,000 of the 52,000 displaced have taken refuge in 58 schools run by the United Nations.
