There will soon be a “rue Sarah-Halimi” in Paris.

The council of the Paris center sector adopted a deliberation on Tuesday to name a portion of the rue des Blancs-Manteaux named after this Jewish sexagenarian, beaten up and then defenestrated by Kobili Traoré in April 2017. This deliberation must be put to a vote during of the Council of Paris.

The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, had already expressed a wish in this direction after the Court of Cassation confirmed the criminal irresponsibility of the murderer.

"This project is fully in line with the duty of the City of Paris to combat anti-Semitism and is in line with the proposals made to the family," said the press release.

Because if the man was declared irresponsible, the investigation established the anti-Semitic nature of the murder.

"I am delighted that it is a rue du Marais, very close to the place where she had lived and welcomed, for years, the children of the nursery of which she was the passionate director", declared in the press release the mayor of sector, Ariel Weil.
