The Frankfurt sports district calls for further relaxation for sport.

The umbrella organization of the Frankfurt gymnastics and sports clubs has complained in a letter to the State Sports Association of Hesse, the German Olympic Sports Association and the city of Frankfurt that popular sport continues to be underestimated in its importance for health and social cohesion.

Due to the federal emergency brake as well as the Hessian state regulation, in the opinion of the sports group, possible freedom for sport and exercise in the corona pandemic remains unused. As in November of last year, the association advocates that, in the interests of health, exercise must be possible in groups even with an incidence of more than 100. "The decisive factor is the size of the area and that the distance rules are implemented," says sports district chairman Roland Frischkorn. For an incidence below 100, the sports district, contrary to the current state ordinance, considers it necessary to allow outdoor group sports not only for children and adolescents up to 14 years of age, but also for all age groups in general.

"The lack of understanding in the club world, which has been increasing for months, is increasing", adds chairman Roland Frischkorn. The sports group sees itself confirmed by statements such as that of the Society for Aerosol Research (GAeF) from April, which attests that sport in the fresh air, in addition to its health-promoting effects, also has little risk of infection.
