Hundreds of thousands of clothing items, such as berets and sportswear, that have been given to soldiers over the years were found to be'defective products'.

According to Congressman Ju-kyung Yoon, the power of the people today (19th), the Defense Acquisition Program Administration surveyed 6 items of clothing supplied to the military and 18 companies. As a result, 8 items were supplied, including berets, army spring and summer sportswear, and summer sportswear. It was confirmed that the company delivered a product that did not meet the standard specifications.

It is known that the scale that eight companies supplied to the military over the past five years amounted to a total of 810,000 sets, 18.2 billion won, including 195,000 spring and summer sportswear, 308,000 summer sportswear, and 306,000 berets.

Looking at the eight companies that did not meet the standards, five were those that delivered summer sportswear to the army last year, and the rest were one beret and two spring and summer sportswear.

The army summer sportswear pants supplied by a company were evaluated at 19 seconds, which is far below the quality standard of '2 seconds or less' in the'sweat absorption rate' evaluation.

In the sweat fastness evaluation, which means the degree of discoloration and deformation due to sweat, it was confirmed that some companies supplied products that did not meet the standard in both the upper and the lower, while the supplied soldier berets did not have the water repellency of the standard standards.

As such, it is pointed out that the reason that'less than standard' products were delivered is due to the relatively poor quality assurance method for clothing.

Military goods are classified into quality assurance standards for each type, and in the case of clothing, they are classified as'Simple Quality Assurance Type (Type I)', which evaluates only'finished products'.

In this case, if the supplier submits a report from an accredited transcript stating that the product meets the standards, the Agency will only verify its authenticity.

The problem is that some companies, using this point, submit normal products only when requested by an accredited transcript, receive results, and then deliver clothing using defective fabrics when delivering them.

The radiation agency commissioned the prosecution to investigate one of the eight companies whose problems were confirmed this time.

For the remaining 7 companies, the contract period remains and corrective actions have been taken. However, if the Defense Agency for Technology and Quality conducts an additional detailed analysis and the illegality is confirmed, legal actions such as requesting an investigation will be taken.
