At a press conference, the boss of the Aéroports de Paris group, Augustin de Romanet, expressed concern about a possible "waiting time apocalypse" this summer.

For him, the influx of travelers could make health checks unmanageable, extending waiting times for passengers.

The boss of the manager of the Paris airports said he was worried Tuesday about a possible "apocalypse of waiting times" when planes descent this summer, given the multiplication of checks due to the health situation.

"What concerns me mainly is the management of the multiplicity of checks, tests and double border police checks," said Augustin de Romanet, CEO of the Aéroports de Paris Group (ADP), interviewed during a press conference dedicated to renewable fuels for aviation.

Passenger traffic at Orly and Roissy in April only reached 13.9% of the number of travelers in the same month of 2019, before the pandemic, but ADP expects to see this figure climb on average to more than 35% over the year 2021, in particular thanks to summer travel again possible to certain destinations.

A waiting time extended by health measures

If the waiting times for the formalities on arrival are currently bearable, the influx of the summer would make them unmanageable given the constraints that have piled up since the start of the Covid-19 crisis, according to ADP.

"We have an addition of controls that are imposed on passengers because of the health situation, first police control with passports, then mandatory PCR test for people who come from Scarlet countries (the most at risk, Editor's note), then second passage in front of the police ", enumerated Mr. de Romanet.
