The president of UPN
Javier Esparza
has demanded that Citizens withdraw an initiative in the Senate in which
the Government of Spain
is
demanded that it does not facilitate the transfer of Traffic
to the Community of Navarra.
"Either rectify or abide by the consequences,"
Esparza has warned his 'partners' in Navarra with whom he reached a coalition agreement in 2019 that also included agreeing in Madrid on proposals that affect the provincial community. UPN defends this
transfer of Traffic compatible with the continuity of the Traffic unit of the Civil Guard
against the decision of President
María Chivite
that only the Provincial Police assume this competence as of next fall.
Esparza wants the party of Inés Arrimadas to withdraw an initiative that the parties in Navarra are using against the UPN as proof that it has given up defending the forality recognized in the Law for the Improvement of Navarra and the Spanish Constitution. "We
have asked Ciudadanos to reconsider
why making these proposals is not understanding the institutional and legal reality of Navarra," Esparza warned, who was the architect of the Navarra Suma coalition in 2019, the UPN, PP and Ciudadanos en Navarra alliance. The electoral agreement allowed
Navarra Suma
to easily win the elections but María Chivite (PSN) found in Podemos, Izquierda Unida and EH Bildu the necessary votes to obtain the investiture.
Chivite and Minister
Miquel Iceta
confirmed last April the transfer of Traffic to Navarra
next fall
and Ciudadanos has denounced in their initiative in the Senate that this transfer is
part of the payment to EH Bildu and the PNV
for their support for the investiture de Sánchez and their status as partners in the Socialist Government. This transfer is also linked to the agreements reached with the Basque Government for the transfer of prisons or the
rapprochement of ETA prisoners
promoted by Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska.
Esparza, very critical of the objectives of the Basque nationalist parties in Navarra, maintains the defense of the transfer of Traffic with the maintenance of all the agents currently assigned to this unit.
"There is no excess civil guard," he
maintains. Representatives of the more than 150 agents stationed in Navarra have already warned of the uncertainty in which they find themselves on the assumption that their unit will disappear without being clear about their next destination.
The secretary of Organization of the PSN
Ramón Alzórriz
has criticized "the lukewarmness" of the president of UPN before "the direct attack on the self-government of Navarra" by Ciudadanos, his partner in Navarra Suma for the presentation of this motion and also Geroa Bai has attacked against UPN.
"It is unacceptable that UPN, a partner of Ciudadanos, endorses this initiative with its complicit silence," said
Uxue Barkos' party
.
