On May 18, local time, the Palestinians staged a one-day protest in the Jerusalem area. The Israeli side sent military police to disperse the protest crowd.
The Guardian reported that the incident resulted in the death of a Palestinian man and more than 70 injuries.
A large number of protesters threw stones and burned tires at an Israeli checkpoint, while Israel used high-pressure water cannons and smoke grenades to drive away the crowd.
