Around ten million meal beetles, larvae and worms feast here on residues from agriculture in the form of bran, malt residues from the beer industry and root vegetables.
Protein is extracted from mealworms
A few years ago, Nils Österström got an idea to extract protein from mealworms - protein that is already used as feed - and is intended to be used in the food industry as well.
