With the rapid development of "Internet +", digital reading has become an important way for people to obtain knowledge and information.

According to the "2020 China Digital Reading Report" released by the China Audiovisual and Digital Publishing Association a few days ago, China's digital reading industry will reach 35.16 billion yuan in 2020, the number of digital reading users will reach 494 million, and the per capita e-book reading volume will reach 9.1. The average reading volume of audiobooks per person is 6.3.

Digital reading has unlimited potential

"Recommend this book to you" "I saw this passage yesterday, it was very interesting, I share it with you"... In the chat records of the "post-90s" girl Tingting and her friends, we can often see similar words.

She and her friend are both loyal users of a reading APP. When they read a good book and find a good sentence and paragraph, they will turn it into a link and send it to each other.

"I spend an hour every day reading on the APP." Tingting told reporters that there are not a few readers like her. She added a WeChat group, which includes students who read books and office workers older than herself. There are even retired people.

Whenever someone wants to form a team to draw the free reading card of the APP, they send a small program to apply for the team to the group, "it will be full in a while."

According to the "China Digital Reading Report 2020", from 2016 to 2020, China's digital reading industry will gradually grow in scale, the scale of users will expand, and the amount of digital reading per capita will gradually increase.

According to the "China Children's Digital Reading Report" and China's 18th National National Reading Survey, the number of children under the age of 7 and middle-aged and elderly people participating in digital reading will increase in 2020, indicating that the audience covers multiple age groups from children to the elderly.

"It can be said that digital reading has ushered in the era of all people. This is the overall reconstruction of the social reading scene." Weng Changshou, a researcher at the Journalism and Social Development Research Center of the School of Journalism, Renmin University of China, told reporters that from the supply side, the Internet is booming. The supply of e-books and online content has become the mainstream, and it is easier to obtain capital, technology and market empowerment, thereby promoting the continuous growth of demand for digital content on the demand side.

"In addition, because people are more accustomed to home activities during the epidemic prevention period, it has also stimulated the potential of digital reading to a certain extent."

Web documents drive the development of the industrial chain

"Biography of Zhen Huan", "Langya List", "Celebrating More Than Years"...a batch of film and television dramas adapted from the Internet appeared on TV and the Internet, attracting a large number of viewers. Xiaotao who works in Beijing is one of them.

She told reporters that the content of the adapted drama is guaranteed and highly visible, and she usually reads the original while watching the drama.

In her spare time, she will also read novels on the platform and give rewards for "reminding".

Xiaotao is just one of many paying readers.

According to the "2020 China Digital Reading Report", more than 80% of users who participated in the survey had paid for digital reading, and nearly half of them paid for online literature.

This trend reflects the new trend of online literature.

Some analysts pointed out that in 2003, "Starting Point" officially started operating the VIP system, and the authors earned income from writing books, making online literature a sustainable and emerging industry.

Now, online literature is no longer limited to a single mode of author writing and reader reading, but a whole industry chain where the platform gathers professional writers to produce high-quality content, novels are adapted as IP, audiences and original readers watch dramas and purchase peripheral products.

Experts believe that the online literature industry has broken the traditional distinction between upstream and downstream, and has formed an industrial chain that benefits authors, platforms, producers, and audiences.

Explore multi-scene immersive reading

The reporter learned that the picture book "The Twelve Zodiac Hidden in the Shanxi Museum" produced by the Shanxi Museum presents 12 collections of cultural relics that echo the twelve zodiac signs.

With the help of AR technology, scanning the AR points in a picture book with a mobile phone or tablet, the static cultural relics and animal images on the book can be "lived", and the historical stories and cultural connotations behind them can be vividly displayed on the screen. The picture books with limited space are displayed through electronic products, and the form of expression is more intuitive and the connotation of picture books is richer, which attracts many children to experience.

The empowerment of science and technology is not only an iterative update of reading methods, but also more diversified digital reading scenarios.

A dazzling array of bookshelves lined up on the screen, extending far away.

Shake the phone to change the angle of view; click on the ground sign and the camera will move forward through the narrow aisle.

If you are interested in a book, click on the cover of the book to learn more about the content and place an order for purchase.

In Migu CITIC Cloud VR Bookstore, you can enter the 360-degree panoramic bookstore without leaving home, design a route according to your personal wishes, "cloud" to explore the store, "cloud" to buy books.

It is understood that many libraries and museums in China have used high-tech means to build "cloud" visiting platforms. Reading scenes that were unimaginable in the past have now become reality. Weng Changshou pointed out that 5G, AR, VR... these professional vocabulary sounds far away, but when reflected in communication technology, it will bring readers a brand new experience and real convenience. "The changes and impacts of new technologies are all-round, visible and tangible. Technological innovation will provide a more imaginative space for future digital reading."
