President Moon Jae-in is leaving for the United States today (19th) to hold his first summit with President Biden on Saturday, our time. The two leaders will focus on vaccines, semiconductors, battery supply chain cooperation, and North Korea issues. In particular, with regard to vaccines, there is a possibility that final conclusions will be drawn on specific cooperation measures such as domestic production through give-and-take swaps or technology transfer.

President Moon Jae-in will hold a summit meeting with US President Joe Biden at the White House in the early morning of the 22nd, our time.



This is the first face-to-face meeting since President Biden took office.



A senior Blue House official said, "A variety of measures related to vaccine cooperation will be discussed."



Vaccine swaps that have been discussed between governments and companies are expected to be discussed in detail, such as sending and receiving, technology transfer and domestic production of mRNA vaccines such as Modena, and establishment of a hub country that establishes a vaccine production base in Korea.



There is also a prospect that Korean companies will disclose their investment plans in the semiconductor and battery sectors, and President Moon can use it as a negotiation leverage.



The denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, including North Korea's nuclear program, is also a major agenda, and it is also of interest that phrases such as ‘successing to the North American Singapore Agreement’ and further ‘Declaration of the end of the war’ will be included in the agreement.



During his visit to the United States, President Moon met with congressional leadership including US House Speaker Pelosi,It also handles schedules such as interviews with Vice President Harris.



A visit to the SK Innovation battery plant in Atlanta is also underway.



President Moon is on his way to his country today for a four-day visit to the United States.
