The president of the Republicans party, Christian Jacob, wished this Tuesday "the victory" of Renaud Muselier to the regional in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur to "prevent the switch" of this region in favor of the RN, despite his "error of political analysis "by putting on its list of LREM candidates.

"In the continuity and proud of the results of the past mandate, we wish the victory of Renaud Muselier for the regional ones on June 27, thus preventing the switch to the National Rally" of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, wrote in a LR boss, Christian Jacob, communicated after a strategic council meeting for his party during which some elected officials again asked to withdraw the nomination from Renaud Muselier.

Neither minister nor LREM deputy on Renaud Muselier's list

"There is neither minister nor LREM deputy on Renaud Muselier's list", which was the condition for LR to support his investiture, said Christian Jacob.

But he also deplored that "the presence of running mate of the presidential majority and the absence of parliamentarians from the Republicans on the list have created tensions and confusion on the ground, detrimental to the campaign".

Renaud Muselier "made a mistake and an error in political analysis by not believing in his own strength and that of his political family, thus giving in to Elyos maneuvers", according to him.

"He did not measure the fact that Mr. Macron is definitely reduced to playing with his sole capacity for nuisance, nor the weakness of LREM's territorial anchoring and his inability to lead a list under his own colors", adds Christian Jacob, who "calls for the sense of responsibility and cohesion of all in the face of the maneuvers and turpitudes of the President of the Republic who wants to make the National Assembly his one and only adversary".

Some right-wing politicians withdraw their support

Representative of the right wing of LR, the leader of senators LR Bruno Retailleau said he pleaded with this council "for the withdrawal of our support for Renaud Muselier because despite his commitments, he has reached an agreement with the Elysium".

"The right is not soluble in macronism," he tweeted.

The day before, the LR federation of the Alpes-Maritimes, led by deputy Eric Ciotti, had withdrawn its support for Renaud Muselier's list.

The LR vice-president of the Assembly, Annie Genevard, pleaded for "coolness".

"The only ambition" of Emmanuel Macron "is to sow confusion which rejoices the RN everywhere in France. Let's turn this page!".
