The temporary pandemic law will not be extended before the summer.

The law currently applies until the end of September this year.

- We have previously sent out a referral where we want to ask how others see that we extend the pandemic law and the serving law to the last of January, by four months, says Lena Hallengren (S).

The parties are instead expected to decide after the summer whether the law is needed to continue this autumn or not.

After that, the proposal is that the decision on extension is decided on the basis of the infection situation and that it is then a matter of shorter periods.

You were previously in the process of extending the law - why do you not want to do it now?

- We still want to extend the legislation until the last of January.

That is our proposal.

However, in dialogue with the Social Affairs Committee and the Constitution Committee, we have stated that we do not need to present this before the summer.

With advantage, we will let the summer go.

Then we can see where the spread of infection goes, says Lena Hallengren to SVT.

The announcement was made when Minister of Social Affairs Lena Hallengren (S) met the Riksdag's Social Affairs Committee on Tuesday.

- We do not want to promise six months ahead but a shorter time, says the social committee chairman Acko Ankarberg Johansson (KD) to SVD.
