The Biden administration in the United States has newly sanctioned members of the "National Governance Council," the highest decision-making body established by the military, for continuing to crack down on citizens in Myanmar.

Britain and Canada have also announced additional sanctions at the same time, urging countries to increase pressure on the military.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken issued a statement on the 17th, refusing to move to democracy and refusing citizens of the highest decision-making body "National Governance Council" established by the military in Myanmar and 16 members. It has been revealed that it has been newly designated as a sanction target because it continues to suppress it.

This measure freezes assets in the United States and bans all transactions with Americans.

On the 17th, the British government also imposed additional sanctions on state-owned enterprises that handle jewelry under the control of the Myanmar military, and the Canadian government also announced that it has imposed new sanctions on military personnel.

"It underscores our and our partners' determination to put pressure on the junta unless it stops violence and takes action to respect the will of the people," Blinken said in a statement.

He also urges countries to increase pressure on the military, saying, "I urge all countries to consider measures such as embargoing weapons and ending transactions with companies related to the military."
