The Urzhumsky District Court of the Kirov Region announced the verdict in the "drunken boy" case.

Sergei Menshikov, 47, who shot down a six-year-old child to death, was found guilty, according to the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.

"The indictment in the criminal case is approved

By the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation ... The court agreed with the opinion of the public prosecutors of the prosecutor's office of the Kirov region

on the proof of the convict's guilt, found him guilty and appointed 2 years 6 months of imprisonment with the deprivation of the right to engage in activities in driving vehicles for 3 years, ”the press service reports.

In addition, the court satisfied the claim of the father of the deceased child and ordered Menshikov to pay compensation for moral damage in the amount of 800 thousand rubles.

Earlier, RT talked about a scandalous accident that occurred on July 13, 2019 in the village of Buyskoye, Urzhumsky district, Kirov region.

The operational duty officer of the Nemsky police station, Sergei Menshikov, while driving a Nissan Qashqai, knocked down a six-year-old boy who was riding a bicycle and drove onto the roadway.

The child died on the spot from his injuries.

The accident caused a wide public outcry when it turned out that expert Sergei Nasonov found 0.51 ppm of alcohol in the blood of the deceased child.

Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin took the course of the investigation under his personal control, and the department for the investigation of especially important cases of the regional Investigative Committee was instructed to find out the reasons and details of the accident.

In November 2019, the expert was charged with negligence.

Nasonov himself admitted that he could have made a mistake, since there are no refrigerators in the local morgue and the boy's body lay in the heat for several days.

As a result, the blood could ferment.

However, later at the trial, Nasonov retracted this testimony.

In March 2021, the Urzhumsky District Court of the Kirov Region found him guilty under Part 1 of Art.

293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and sentenced to six months of correctional labor with a deduction of 5% of earnings in favor of the state.

According to a representative of the family of the deceased boy, Nasonov had to serve his sentence in the same bureau where he worked earlier.

In April, Nasonov appealed the verdict, but could not prove his innocence.

On April 19, 2021, the Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Kiro Regional Court upheld the verdict of the first instance court.

On May 12, 2021, the verdict entered into force.

“The unprofessional actions of a forensic expert entailed causing moral harm to the parents of the deceased child, who had to justify themselves and prove the fact of proper performance of parental duties and refute the arguments regarding the use of alcohol by minors,” the press service of the regional prosecutor's office reported.

At the same time, the former police officer Sergei Menshikov, who was driving the car at the time of the fatal accident, was in the status of a witness for almost a year.

Perhaps the reason for this was the first auto-technical examination.

According to its results, Menshikov's car moved in the village at a speed of 79 km / h, and the driver was unable to prevent the collision.

Moreover, experts concluded that a six-year-old boy, shod in heavy rubber boots, was able to reach a speed of 16.9 km / h on an old children's bicycle.

According to a representative of the family of the deceased child, incorrect data could appear due to the fact that an older child on a larger bicycle participated in the investigative experiment.

The father of the deceased boy in September 2020 turned to the Prosecutor General's Office with a request to check the conclusions of the experts.

After that, additional studies were carried out, which showed that the speed of Menshikov's car reached 82 km / h, while he had the opportunity to avoid a collision.

The boy's speed on a bicycle decreased to 6-7 km / h.

On May 29, 2020, Sergei Menshikov was charged under Part 3 of Art.

264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of traffic rules, resulting in the death of a person by negligence."

On February 9, 2021, the case materials were submitted to the court.
