ERC and JxCat have reached a principle of agreement to invest
Pere Aragonès
, form a coalition government and thus avoid the electoral repetition in Catalonia, a scenario to which it seemed doomed after last week the two great Catalan independence forces broke up the negotiations to anoint the Republican candidate
Both formations confirm that after a weekend of negotiations between Aragonès and the general secretary of JxCat,
Jordi Sànchez
, the talks have been redirected to the point of having reached a preliminary agreement to reissue the current separatist bipartisan.
The pact will be transferred this morning to the executives of ERC and JxCat.
Afterwards, Aragonès and Sànchez will appear to solemnize the agreement.
In a joint statement, the two parties apologize for having extended the agreement and pledge to "move towards the common goal of independence."
PRESSURE IN THE STREET OF ANC
This alliance comes after the pressure on the two main pro-independence parties skyrocketed.
This same weekend, the ANC mobilized in the streets to warn ERC and JxCat that it would withdraw their support if they encouraged a repeat of the elections.
Likewise, the JxCat sector from Convergència and the senior officials of the formation that were going to lose their place in the Government if the pact was not reissued had urged
Carles Pugidemont
to ally with ERC "whatever the cost."
