May 16, 2021 The seats for the second day of voting to choose the 155 members of the future Constituent Assembly reopened at 8 (14 Italian) in Chile.

The Assembly has the historic task of drafting the new Constitution which will replace the one imposed in 1980, in full dictatorship, by General Augusto Pinochet.



Starting at 6 pm (24 am in Italy) the results of the vote of the almost 15 million Chileans will be released.

The voters were also called to express 16 governors, 345 mayors and thousands of regional and municipal councilors.



Yesterday, on a substantially quiet day, the Electoral Service (Servel) announced that over three million voters exercised their right, equivalent to a turnout of 20.49%. On the eve, the experts argued that, since the compulsory voting was not in Chile, the participation of Chileans would hardly have reached 50%, far from the 80% recorded last October for the referendum in which the composition mechanism of 'Constituent Assembly.
