The Israeli General Security Agency (Shin Bet) announced today, Sunday, the arrest of dozens of Palestinians inside the Green Line, for allegedly attacking Israelis.

The Shin Bet said in a statement that in recent days, it had arrested, in cooperation with the police, dozens of people accused of participating in attacks on Israelis, according to the Hebrew newspaper, "Israel Hayom".

He pointed out that he is currently investigating a number of suspects "involved" in two major incidents, the first in the Palestinian village of Kafr Kanna (north), when a settler entered it by mistake on May 10, and was beaten and his car burned by Palestinian protesters.

The second incident - according to the Shin Bet statement - is the attack on an Israeli family who accidentally entered the city of Umm al-Fahm, and was attacked.

In a related context, the Israeli police announced the arrest of 6 Palestinians in Lod (center) on suspicion of violating the system and shooting police officers in recent days, which raises the number of detainees in the city to 27 since last Monday.

According to a police statement carried by the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, the detainees are currently being questioned, and the police will ask the court to extend their detention.

However, the Shin Bet and the police did not mention in their statements the violent attacks that many Palestinians in the interior had recently suffered at the hands of Jewish extremists.

Israeli attacks

On the other hand, a 12-year-old Palestinian child was injured yesterday night with burns to his face, after an Israeli extremist threw a Molotov cocktail at his family home in Jaffa, and is currently lying in a hospital in a condition described as critical, according to the Hebrew Kan channel.

On Wednesday evening, a Palestinian youth was seriously injured after being stabbed by a Jewish extremist in a market in West Jerusalem. Kan TV said that a young man was injured after he was attacked and stabbed by a number of Jewish extremists in Mahane Yehuda market.

Thursday, an Israeli court decided to release 4 settlers accused of killing a Palestinian youth in the city of Lod, near Tel Aviv, and the "Times of Israel" newspaper reported that the Magistrate’s Court in Rishon LeZion had ordered the release of the four accused, in relatively lenient conditions.

The defendants claimed that they shot the victim in self-defense, amid violent confrontations in the city of Lod between the occupation forces and Israelis on one side, and Palestinian youths on the other side.

Many mixed Israeli cities (inhabited by Palestinians and Jews), such as Lod, Acre, and Jaffa, have witnessed bloody confrontations between the two sides during the past few days.

The situation in all the Palestinian territories has exploded as a result of brutal attacks committed by the police and settlers since April 13 in Jerusalem, especially the Bab al-Amud area, the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its surroundings, and the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, where Israel wants to expel 12 Palestinian families from their homes in order to hand them over to settlers.
