In a regional campaign where he is caught between two fires, that of the National Rally (RN) and its candidate Sébastien Chenu and that of La République en Marche (LREM) with Éric Dupond-Moretti, Xavier Bertrand, who is also targeting the presidential election , has chosen to be offensive on the sensitive subject of security.

The outgoing president of Hauts-de-France, who hopes to be re-elected in June, addresses in the columns of the
Journal du dimanche
to voters in his region but not only ... Because Xavier Bertrand is already a
candidate for the presidential election
and each of his messages are intended to give him a place in the match between Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen.
According to him, the
Head of State
is “
four years behind
” and “
security has never been his priority
”.
As for Marine Le Pen, he accuses her of embodying "
extremism that adds violence
".
Break the "
spiral of impunity
"
So Xavier Bertrand gives his solutions to break "
the spiral of impunity
": criminal majority at 15, electronic bracelet for minors, closed educational centers with military supervision.
He also promises a Keeper of the Seals who will no longer be "
minister of detainees
" like Eric Dupond-Moretti, Emmanuel Macron's special envoy against him to the regions, but "
minister of victims
".
And above all, Xavier Bertrand made a promise: no question of making an alliance in the second round with the majority.
A way for him to show that he will not fall into the “
trap
” of an agreement with the regional ones, which would deprive him of his credibility for
the presidential election.
