Dresden (dpa / sn) - The Dresden FDP member of the Bundestag Torsten Herbst has been elected by his party to the federal executive committee.

The 47-year-old top candidate of the Saxon Liberals for the federal election got the required majority with 455 votes in the first ballot, the FDP announced on Saturday.

Herbst has been a member of the Bundestag since 2017 and is chairman of the FDP in the Committee on Transport and Digital Infrastructure.

The Saxon FDP chairman Frank Müller-Rosentritt from Chemnitz, on the other hand, did not manage to be elected as a member of the federal executive committee.
