Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The Rhineland-Palatinate Greens have chosen Tabea Rößner from Mainz at the top of their list for the federal election.

Without an opponent, the member of the Bundestag received 83.6 percent of the votes from 201 delegates at a party congress in Mainz on Saturday.

"In the summer we are doing an election campaign that has washed up," Rößner called to the mostly digitally connected delegates from a former factory building.

It will be "high time for a green federal government and this time it is in".

With a view to the green candidate for Chancellor Annalena Baerbock, the 54-year-old added: "With our future Chancellor Annalena we will make the difference - in style and content."
