Augsburg (dpa) - Florian Kohfeldt still has the confidence to save Werder Bremen from relegation from the Bundesliga in an emergency by relegating again.
"I'm still combative," said the 38-year-old coach on Saturday after the 2-0 draw at FC Augsburg.
The Hanseatic League fell back to 16th place due to the defeat.
Kohfeldt spoke of a "difficult day for us".
Berets last season only managed to save with two draws in the relegation against the second division third 1. FC Heidenheim.
"Unlike last year, we're not dependent on someone for the relegation on the last day of the game," said Kohfeldt.
On the last day of the match, Bremen play against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Unfortunately, you no longer have direct relegation in your own hands, lamented Kohfeldt.
Werder fell in the table with 31 points behind promoted Arminia Bielefeld (32 points).
1. FC Köln (30) is on the direct relegation zone behind Werder.
