Bielefeld (dpa) - Arminia Bielefeld missed the almost certain rescue in the fight against direct relegation from the Bundesliga.

Due to the 1-1 (1: 1) against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, the team of coach Frank Kramer jumped to a non-relegation place on the penultimate matchday, but must continue to tremble.

Despite a superior game, it was only enough to equalize Andreas Voglsammer's goal on Saturday (23rd minute).

Goalgetter Andrej Kramaric (5th) had previously given Hoffenheim an early lead.

Before the last matchday, Bielefeld is now one point ahead of Werder Bremen and two points ahead of 1. FC Köln on rank 15 with 32 points. With a win at VfB Stuttgart, East Westphalia can stay in the class on Saturday on their own.

This would only theoretically have been taken from them if they had won against Hoffenheim.

For TSG as eleventh, it is no longer about anything against Hertha BSC.

Hundreds of Arminen fans swore the DSC to the important duel and received them at the Schüco Arena.

“When you drove up, you saw what that meant to everyone.

That of course encourages us all the more », Kramer had said before the game on Sky.

Even during the game, “Arminia, Arminia” calls from the adjacent residential area echoed into the stadium.

This seemed to spur the people of Bielefeld on.

The hosts fought, started committed and made the game, but ran into a counterattack early on.

TSG striker Kramaric successfully scored his 19th goal after preliminary work by Sargis Adamyan.

The Croatian, who was the captain of the Kraichgauer for the first time, is the first player in Hoffenheim's Bundesliga history to score so many goals in one season.

For the 29-year-old, it was also the fifth goal from the last four games.

The weakened guests - coach Sebastian Hoeneß were missing nine players - were immediately put back on the defensive.

Voglsammer equalized a little later with a wonderfully directly converted free kick.

Philipp Pentke in the TSG goal had no chance.

The 36-year-old represented the injured goalkeeper Oliver Baumann.

In the heavy rain that set in, the game was fierce and balanced until the break. At halftime, the sun came out and with it the structure of the game came back. Bielefeld pressed on the lead, but had bad luck several times or failed because of the brilliantly reacting Pentke. The greatest opportunity was missed by Voglsammer, who achieved an unsuccessful return from Kevin Akpoguma, but finished completely unplaced (49th).

Sometimes the Hoffenheimers also made catastrophic defensive mistakes - for example when Florian Grillitsch and Stefan Posch only half-heartedly defended against Fabian Klos, but Pentke again brilliantly parried his headbutt (64th).

The lack of opportunity almost took revenge, but Arminen goalkeeper Stefan Ortega reacted sensationally at Hoffenheim's first chance in the second round against Kramaric (75th).

In the final phase, the game finally got a bit wild, but the decisive thing didn't happen anymore.
