Rostock (dpa / mv) - In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, 111 new corona infections were reported on Saturday.

That was 37 fewer than on Saturday a week ago, as the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lagus) announced (as of 3:49 p.m.).

Three other people died from coronavirus infection.

The total number of corona deaths in the country rose to 1078.

The incidence fell to 58 new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week.

A week ago, this value was stated to be 88 nationwide. At 81.8, the seven-day incidence in the Mecklenburg Lake District is currently the highest.

In the other regions of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, this important value is between 27.1 (Vorpommern-Rügen district) and 78.1 (Vorpommern-Greifswald district).

The total number of corona infections detected so far in the northeast is 42 905. Around 39 350 people are considered to have recovered.

The number of corona patients treated in clinics is currently 234 - 34 fewer than the day before.

62 corona patients were in intensive care units, 13 fewer than on Friday.

According to Lagus, 777,963 corona vaccinations were administered by Friday.

614 887 people received a first vaccination, 163 076 of them the necessary second vaccination.
