Erfurt (dpa / th) - The infection rate has weakened significantly in Thuringia.

According to the Robert Koch Institute, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days was 132.1 on Saturday (previous day: 162.4).

Nationwide, the seven-day incidence was 87.3.

Despite the falling incidence value, Thuringia is still the federal state most severely affected by the pandemic.

In addition to Thuringia, only Saxony (122.6) and Baden-Württemberg (107.1) have a value of over 100.

Regionally, there is a gap in Thuringia between the districts and independent cities.

The cities of Erfurt (80.8), Jena (84.4), Suhl (87) and Weimar (90.5) were below the threshold of 100, which is decisive for easing the pandemic regulations.

In contrast, the districts of Sonneberg (220) and Gotha (207.5) had incidence values of more than 200.

From Friday to Saturday, 257 new infections and 19 further deaths in connection with a corona infection were reported in Thuringia.

Since the beginning of the corona pandemic, 4051 people infected with the virus have died in Thuringia.

A total of 123,945 people were infected with the virus.

About 112,700 people are considered to have recovered.
