Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - For the first time in two months, Saxony-Anhalt fell below the value of 100 new infections per week and 100,000 inhabitants nationwide.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value for Saxony-Anhalt on Saturday as 92.1.

On Friday, the so-called seven-day incidence was still 103.9.

According to the RKI, only five of the 14 rural districts and urban districts were above an incidence of 100.

In the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district, this was the case on Saturday with a value of 59.3 for the fourth working day in a row.

If the value remains in double digits on Monday, the strict corona rules of the so-called federal emergency brake in the district will no longer apply on Wednesday.

So far in Saxony-Anhalt this has only been the case in Magdeburg.

The state capital was the district with the lowest seven-day incidence at 56.4 on Saturday.

But even in the south of the country, which is particularly hard hit by the virus, the number of infections continues to decline.

In Halle, the incidence on Saturday at 95.1 was below 100 for the first time in a long time, the Burgenlandkreis, long the state's hotspot, was only slightly higher at 105.1, as was the Saalekreis (101.2).

The RKI reported the highest seven-day value in the country for the Harz (135).
