Faint hope negotiations between the government and the National Union of Workers of Mali (UNTM).

The 96-hour strike by the country's main trade union center will therefore take place from Monday, May 17.

It could then turn into an indefinite strike, say the trade unionists who demand in particular the harmonization of bonuses and the salary scale of all workers in the country.

The faint hope reunion failed.

The delegation of the National Union of Workers of Mali (UNTM) reinforced its speech, stressing the "

bad faith of the official delegation to the negotiations

 ".

“

We will be leaving on a series of strikes starting on Monday

[May 17]

.

This follows the government's inaction.

And from the 28th, if nothing is done, we will go on an indefinite strike.

Our main demand revolves around the harmonization of bonuses and allowances and also the harmonization of the salary scale,

”said Moustapha Djitté, secretary of claims of the UNTM.

Fear of a paralyzed administration

As for the national authorities, there are no longer any interlocutors for the moment.

Prime Minister Moctar Ouane presented his resignation on Friday 14 May.

Admittedly, he was renewed, but he is working on the formation of the new government.

In the meantime, we are preparing for a four-day strike and the fear of seeing the administration paralyzed as well as the banking sector.

Moreover, as a precaution, some are already withdrawing money from cash machines.
