Sonsbeck (dpa / lnw) - The campsite operators are experiencing a flood of inquiries given the prospect of easing.

"We are really overrun," said the NRW President of the Federal Association of the Camping Industry in Germany, Leo Ingenlath, the German press agency.

The e-mail inboxes were literally bursting with inquiries, and the operators' telephones no longer stand still.

Many places were already reserved from Easter.

In the absence of opening options, a lot was then canceled.

At the moment, many campers were still trying to get hold of something for Whitsun. The destination hardly plays a role anymore. "I have the impression that people just want to get out of their own four walls," said Ingenlath. With some inquiries about free capacities, it is only later about where the campsite is actually located and where you ultimately ended up with your inquiry. The search is also very difficult because there are different regulations in the federal states and the openings within the federal states may differ from region to region.

Ingenlath appealed to campers to only arrive with valid evidence of, for example, a negative corona test in accordance with the requirements and to clarify the question of a free parking space in good time.

Digital solutions with apps could significantly reduce the effort, but are not yet standard everywhere.

If the place is full, you have to turn away interested parties.

"It will be like that."

You cannot rent out parking spaces by floor or park on the next meadow.

Hopefully, with increasing opening possibilities, the demand will soon be equalized nationwide.
