Berlin (dpa) - A Berlin upper division has lodged an objection to the termination mode in the Berlin State Cup.
The sports court of the Berlin Football Association (BFV) therefore asked the Presidium yesterday, Friday, to submit a statement within the next seven days, as the BFV announced.
In several video conferences with all 32 teams remaining in the cup, the mode was determined to end the cup with the five regional league clubs BFC Dynamo, Berliner AK 07, VSG Altglienicke, Viktoria Berlin and Tennis Borussia Berlin.
“In all discussions with the remaining 32 cup teams, the common denominator was that Berlin should take part on the final day of the amateurs on May 29, 2021.
As much as I can understand the complainant's personal interests, at the same time I lack an eye for the general interest of Berlin amateur football, "said Joachim Gaertner, member of the BFV's executive committee.
Despite the objection, it was decided to hold the quarter-finals scheduled for this Saturday between Viktoria 89 and TeBe in the Lichterfelde stadium (1.30 p.m. / rbb24.de).
The winner of the match would face BFC Dynamo next Saturday.
The final is to take place on May 29th as part of the «Amateurs Final Day».
The winner reaches the first round of the DFB Cup.

If the objection is upheld, the Berlin Football Association could not offer a game on the day of the final.
The Thuringian Football Association had already canceled its participation this week.
There, too, a team had sued against the competition mode.
