Hanover (dpa / lni) - In view of escalating violence in the Middle East and protests in Germany, the Turkish mosque association Ditib has warned against anti-Semitism and religiously motivated hatred.

"We observe with great concern that people of the Jewish faith and synagogues are targets of attacks," said the managing director of the Ditib regional association for Lower Saxony and Bremen, Emine Oguz, on Saturday.

"Anti-Semitism and any group-related misanthropy has no place in our ranks, anything else would not correspond to our understanding of faith," said Oguz.

Society must stick together and show that hate has no religion.

"We all have to cry out when our places of worship are attacked and have to de-escalate and oppose it when they become the target of hatred," said Oguz.

"We must not allow proxy conflicts to be waged here and call on everyone to be prudent."

Oguz called for prayer that all people around the world could live in peace.

"As Muslims and an integral part of this society, we must stand up for tolerance, dignity and respect."
